The time is here! The first vocabulary test of the term! Tomorrow we will test on Unit 6. Below are the words and definitions in case you forgot your packet at school!

Bondage - (n.) forced slavery / servitude

Atone - (v.) make up for / apologize

Defray - (v.) pay for / compensate with money

Hamper - (v.) hold back / make harder

Hew - (v.) cut / shape especially with an ax

Supplant - (v.) take the place of / replace

Taunt - (v.) make fun of / jeer

Credible - (adj.) believable / trustworthy

Doleful - (adj.) sad / gloomy

Impoverished - (adj.) the state of being poor / living in poverty

Intricate - (adj.) complicated / difficult to understand

Posthumous - (adj.) occurring after death

Sardonic - (adj.) grim / biting

Diligent - (adj.) hardworking / careful

Ghastly - (adj.) horrible / grisly

Incessant - (adj.) constant / nonstop

Lucid - (adj.) clear / easy to understand

Prim - (adj.) very proper / neat

Superfluous - (adj.) too much / more than enough

Tenacious - (adj.) stubborn / dogged
